Description
One of the Prague bridges, namely, Nuselsky, has long been ill-famed. The people called him ââ¬Åthe bridge of suicidesââ¬Â: the Nuselsky bridge performs an important function for the city - it connects areas located on two opposite hills. Thus, motorists are spared the need to travel across the entire valley for a length of 5 km: using an overground crossing, this distance is reduced by 10 times.Construction of the bridge lasted 6 years. To accommodate reinforced concrete pillars in the valley, 17 buildings had to be demolished, and some of them were over 100 years old. To test the strength of the bridge, in 1973, 66 tanks were launched on it.
